2013 NFL Draft: Expect an early run on offensive linemen

Apr 25, 2013

The 2013 NFL draft is finally upon us. While we are now counting down hours, instead of days, we don’t appear any closer to being able to predict exactly who will go where when things kick off on Thursday night. What we do know is that this year’s draft class isn’t particularly stocked at the skill positions–at least not in relation to the first round. There are few quarterbacks, running backs or wide receivers who analysts seem to agree warrant a first-round selection, and it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if Day 1 passes with only one player…

2013 NFL Draft: Is there a right choice for the Chiefs at No. 1?

Apr 25, 2013

The 2013 NFL draft is now just days away, and unlike in years past, there is still a fair amount of intrigue surrounding the No. 1 overall selection which is currently held by the Kansas City Chiefs. A year ago, the wold was well aware that former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck would be an Indianapolis Colt long before the actual draft took place. After trading up to the No. 2 spot, the Washington Redskins were a lock to select former Baylor signal-caller Robert Griffin III, a certainty that was also guaranteed in advance of draft day. In 2011, former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton,…

49ers agree to trade quarterback Alex Smith to Chiefs

Feb 27, 2013

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith will be leaving the NFC West for the AFC West after the Kansas City Chiefs, as first reported by Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer on Twitter, paid a handsome price to bring the 28-year-old former No. 1 overall pick in 2005 to KC. While the deal cannot officially be processed until March 12, the price Kansas City paid to acquire Smith’s services was apparently hefty enough to get the deal locked in place until it can be processed in just under two weeks. Despite already having 14 draft picks in the upcoming draft, according to…

Andy Reid named Chiefs head coach

Jan 3, 2013

Dear Chiefs fans, get ready to have your quarterback sling it 50 times per game, while also having arguably your best offensive player in running back Jamaal Charles isolated out of the offense, unless he’s catching a pass. That’s right, Andy Reid is coming to town. It was initially believed that Reid would take the reins over in Arizona, but after apparently delaying his meeting with the Cardinals to continue talks with the Chiefs, the desert birds started to look like a long-shot at best to land Reid’s services. But the Chiefs seem like a perfect fit for Reid and…

The shoulder injury is something we will be watching throughout the day. Bowe took a hard hit to the ribs and went down in pain. He appeared to be vomiting on the field before being ushered to the locker room. His…

Brady Quinn has reminded us all that life is bigger than football‏

Dec 4, 2012

Brady Quinn has always looked the part to me. He stands 6’3″ inches tall with the looks you would find often on your mother’s favorite daytime soap. He graduated from Notre Dame; you know the school with all the tradition-rich history and huge TV contract. Quinn essentially is the All-American boy from the Midwest, born in Ohio, a middle child with the ability to woo all the girls with his handsome looks and make the college scouts drool with a big-time arm. After completing his career at Notre Dame, Quinn left holding 36 Notre Dame records and tied the record for…

Dec 1, 2012

Despite the horrendous news of Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher‘s apparent murder-suicide, the NFL has instructed the Carolina Panthers to get on the plane and head to Kansas City. The Chiefs are set to play the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday. Related: Chiefs LB Jovan Belcher dead in apparent murder-suicide Now this doesn’t necessarily mean that the game will be played. It could still be postponed. The move by the NFL appears to be a “let’s see how this plays out before rescheduling the game” type of thing. If the NFL does decide move the game, Monday or Tuesday night…

Dec 1, 2012

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher reportedly shot and killed his girlfriend on Saturday morning shortly before turning the gun on himself in the parking lot of Arrowhead Stadium. According to KCTV, Belcher reportedly shot his girlfriend at her home, and then got in the car and drove to the team facility, where, according to ESPN980, he was met by general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel.
