Bears land TE Martellus Bennett; a huge score for GM Phil Emery

Mar 12, 2013

The Chicago Bears didn’t wait long to make a splash in free agency. Needing a tight end in a bad way, the Bears have  reportedly agreed in principle to a deal with former New York Giant Martellus Bennett. ***Bennett & the Bears agreed to a four-year deal. Terms of the deal are not yet available.  Bennett took to Twitter to announce the move. Oh, and he’s apparently pretty stoked to play with Brandon Marshall. The Bears have been without a productive tight end since former GM Jerry Angelo traded Greg Olsen to the Carolina Panthers in 2011. Phil Emery clearly saw…

New York Giants announce release of veteran back Ahmad Bradshaw

Feb 7, 2013

Teams looking to add to the running back position this offseason might have just added another intriguing option to their lists. On Wednesday, the New York Giants decided to part ways with veteran running back Ahmad Bradshaw after six seasons. Releasing Bradshaw now will save the Giants $2.75 million worth of cap space, but that likely isn’t the only reason the decision was made. With a talented–and less expensive–running back duo of David Wilson and Andre Brown on the roster, Bradshaw’s time in New York was likely nearing the end anyway. The former seventh-round pick out of Marshall is fresh off another medical procedure…

Is Giants receiver Victor Cruz pricing himself out of New York?

Feb 1, 2013

Though his journey to stardom has been relatively brief, it already seems difficult to imagine New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz in a different uniform in 2013. From setting franchise records (single-season receiving with 1,536 yards in 2011), to a touching autobiography (1012′s Out of the Blue) to the now infamous salsa dance, the former undrafted free agent out of Massachusetts has become synonymous with the Giants and their high-flying passing attack. However, things may be headed for a change this March, when Cruz is scheduled to become a restricted free agent. Of course, the Giants will have an opportunity to protect…

Giants eliminated from playoff contention, despite thrashing Eagles 42-7

Dec 30, 2012

The New York Giants did their part, blowing out the woeful Philadelphia Eagles 42-7 in the regular-season finale. Unfortunately, the win wasn’t enough for the defending Super Bowl champions to push their way back into the playoffs. Quarterback Eli Manning threw five touchdown passes, running back Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 107 yards and a score and the Giants limited Philadelphia to a mere seven points as the New York cruised to victory. However, while the Giants were busy taking care of business, they were also keeping an eye on the score over in Detroit. A win by the Chicago Bears would eliminate the…

Greg Jennings ruled out against New York Giants

Nov 25, 2012

It appears that Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings will not make his highly-anticipated return this week. The Packers had been hopeful that Jennings, who returned to practice this week following surgery to repair an abdominal tear, could be back for for Sunday night’s marquee matchup against the New York Giants. However, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports and the NFL Network has reported that Jennings will not suit up against the Giants. Jennings has not played in a game since Sept. 30, which has–at least in part–led to the explosive emergence of second-year wideout Randall Cobb. In the past six games, without…

Chicago Bears, New York Giants or the field: Who has the best defense in the NFL?

Oct 31, 2012

Rumor has it that the NFL is still a quarterback-driven league. True, there have been some pretty sensational performances from the men behind center. For instance, 2011 NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers is getting warmed up once again. With 11 touchdown passes in his last three games, the Packers quarterback has now thrown for 21 scores and only four interceptions in 2012. That’s all well and good, but it will still be a strong defensive performance that determines who will win Super Bowl XLVII. So who’s got the best defense in the league these days? We’ve listed the obvious and not-so…

Tony Romo thinks Cowboys fans were right to boo during Sunday’s loss

Oct 29, 2012

Since defeating the New York Giants to open the season, it has been all downhill for Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys. Despite a 3-4 record, the Cowboys have struggled to find an identity. And that lack of identity was put on display Sunday against the Giants. Without star running back DeMarco Murray on the field, head coach Jason Garrett called Romo’s number 62 times in the 29-24 loss. While Romo did complete 36-of-62 passes for 437 yards and a touchdown, he threw three interceptions in the first half, and four in total. As a result of the early interceptions…

Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul has some words for Redskins QB Robert Griffin III

Oct 18, 2012

Robert Griffin III is still learning how to slide in the NFL, as was evident when he didn’t slide on a third-down run against the Atlanta Falcons two weeks ago, when he may or may not have suffered a concussion. Not only does Griffin now have to worry about sliding properly and at the right time, he has to worry about a stiff warning from a member of the New York Giants; the same New York Giants that play host to the Redskins this Sunday. “Don’t bring it to my side,” Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul said, via the New…

Giants WR Hakeem Nicks travels with team, listed as questionable against 49ers

Oct 13, 2012

The last time New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks was on the field, he put on a dazzling display, catching 10 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2. However, that was the last time Nicks was on the field. The talented deep threat missed the last three games after experiencing swelling in the knee. Fortunately, it appears that Nicks could make his much-anticipated return this Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Nicks is officially listed as questionable, but did make the cross-country flight with the rest of the team, which is…

Browns WRs Mohamed Massaquoi, Travis Benjamin out against Giants

Oct 7, 2012

We have known for most of the week that the New York Giants will be without wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. We learned on Saturday, that the Browns will also enter the game missing a pair of receivers. Mohamed Massaquoi, who missed last week’s game against the Ravens with a hamstring injury, and rookie Travis Benjamin, who suffered his own hamstring injury during that game, were initially listed as doubtful. However, neither player made the trip to New York, leaving no doubt as to their status. With Massaquoi and Benjamin out, the…
