Redskins release DeAngelo Hall

Mar 11, 2013

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, the Washington Redskins have released veteran cornerback DeAngelo Hall. This move surprises no one. The 29-year-old Hall was set to count $8 million against Washington’s cap in 2013, a pill that a salary-capped organization like Washington simply could not swallow. Washington’s salary cap situation is hampered by an $18 million penalty due to violations in the NFL’s uncapped year in 2010. The Redskins were penalized $36 million in total and chose to split the penalty into two seasons. Hall spent the past five seasons with the Redskins and recorded 19 of…

On-field video of Fed-Ex Field paints an ugly picture for the Redskins

Jan 10, 2013

Unless Robert Griffin III can pull a miraculous Adrian Peterson-like recovery from his recent knee reconstruction, the Washington Redskins may have to start next season with Kirk Cousins at the helm. And the result could be the organization’s own doing, thanks to the poor field conditions. RG3 had been battling a knee injury for most of the second half of the season. So the severity of his injury shouldn’t be all that surprising. It was only a matter of time before the knee decided to give out. But the knee may have had some help. You could see how choppy the…

Robert Griffin III to undergo surgery to repair ligament damage

Jan 8, 2013

Now that the Washington Redskins have been eliminated from post-season play, first-year quarterback Robert Griffin III won’t have to worry about hitting the practice field any time soon, which is probably a good thing. It might be a while before Griffin is able to practice. According to NFL.com‘s Jeff Darlington, Griffin will undergo surgery this week to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament (LCL). Griffin first injured the LCL during a Week 15 game against the Baltimore Ravens. At the time, Griffin’s injury was listed as a mild LCL sprain, and the talented rookie quarterback was cleared to return to the…

Redskins LB London Fletcher may have played his last NFL game

Jan 7, 2013

Ravens star linebacker Ray Lewis isn’t the only one looking to life after football. Following his team’s 24-14 season-ending loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Redskins linebacker and the NFL’s resident ironman London Fletcher is also contemplating hanging it up. “I’ll take some time to let the emotions of the season kind of get away, refresh a little bit and then sit down with my family and make the decision from there as far as whether I’ll continue to play or not,” Fletcher said after the game, via the Washington Post. Fletcher is the epitome of an underdog. He…

How much blame does Mike Shanahan deserve for Robert Griffin III’s latest injury?

Jan 7, 2013

The Washington Redskins’ storybook run has come to an end at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks, and their charismatic, multi-dimensional quarterback, Robert Griffin III, appears headed toward a lengthy recovery. Head coach Mike Shanahan is sure to hear plenty of criticism about his decision to leave rookie quarterback Griffin in the game after an early blow aggravated the knee injury he suffered back in Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens. Griffin was visibly ineffective after the first quarter and looked nothing like the sleek, mobile play-maker of previous weeks. Griffin battled through the pain for much of the game, but in the…

Redskins Robert Griffin III injures knee in Sunday’s game against Seahawks

Jan 6, 2013

Robert Griffin III‘s right knee finally gave out. During the fourth quarter of Sunday’s playoff matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, Griffin III mishandled a snap inside his own ten yard line and his right knee buckled when he attempted to pick it up. The Redskins were down 21-14 at the time of the injury. Seattle had to settle for three points after recovering the fumble inside Washington’s five yard line. Kirk Cousins entered the game in his place. Stay tuned to EndZone News for more on the health of RG3′s knee. Follow us on Twitter: @BearHeiser & @EZNewsNFL. “Like” us on Facebook, too. Related…

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III officially cleared to start

Dec 23, 2012

As has been expected for most of the week, it appears that Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III will start this Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. According to ESPN, team doctors have cleared Griffin, who suffered a sprained right knee two weeks ago against the Baltimore Ravens, to play in Sunday’s game. The Redskins appear confident in the doctors’ decision, and do not believe that the multi-faceted signal-caller will experience any limitations. Washington, which started the season 3-6, has won five straight and moved into a first place tie in the NFC East. The Redskins can lock up a…

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III expected to start against Philadelphia Eagles

Dec 20, 2012

As it turned out, the Washington Redskins didn’t need quarterback Robert Griffin III to beat the Cleveland Browns. Against the Philadelphia Eagles this week, it doesn’t look like the Redskins will have to worry about whether or not they need him. According to NFL.com’s Albert Breer, Griffin is expected to start against the Eagles, per a source with knowledge of the team’s medical status. Washington is expected to evaluate Griffin on Thursday, but as of now, it looks like fellow rookie Kirk Cousins is headed back to the bench. “I was able to go through a full practice, so that was good,” Griffin…

Cleveland Browns seal fifth consecutive losing season, probably Pat Shurmur’s fate

Dec 17, 2012

All of the momentum that the Cleveland Browns had managed to muster during their three-game winning streak was wiped away during Sunday’s 38-21 blowout loss to the RG3-less Washington Redskins. Head coach Pat Shurmur‘s job may have gone with it. Despite taking a 14-10 lead into halftime, the Browns (5-9) managed to give away a winnable game in disastrous fashion. Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden threw two key second-half interceptions, and the Browns defense, which had been playing at a high level prior to Sunday, gave up 28 second-half points, allowing the Redskins to climb back into the game and then surge ahead for the…

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will not start against Browns

Dec 15, 2012

Even though most signs pointed to Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III being out this week against the Cleveland Browns, the Redskins did a pretty good job of delaying the official announcement as long as possible. Apparently, the delay ended Saturday. Jay Glazer of FoxSports and NFL Network has reported that fellow rookie Kirk Cousins will start in place of Griffin Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. The Redskins confirmed the report via the team’s official Twitter account. It has been reported that the final decision rested with the team’s medical staff, who appear to fear that playing could risk further damage to Griffin’s…
