A Pennsylvania highschool soccer participant collapses and dies in a 7-on-7 battle

A Philadelphia high school football player has died after collapsing while warming up for a 7-on-7 passing game Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Ivan Hicks, 16, of West Catholic High School reportedly collapsed before a game against Coatesville and was later pronounced dead at Brandywine Hospital. The Daily Voice reported that two parents “with apparent medical training” performed CPR on him before emergency services arrived. The website reported that rescue workers arrived within two minutes of the call.

He was reportedly an aspiring junior at the school.

No cause of death was found.

Hicks is the second high school player from the Philadelphia area to collapse and die last year. Isaiah Turner, 17, of La Salle College, died last September after training.
