Indiana Hoosiers College Football 2021 Preview: Offense

– At least until the loss to Ole Miss – when Indiana was the only team all year long that didn’t tear the rebel defenses apart – the offensive was fine. It wasn’t anything special, but the offensive line was good at protecting pass and there were enough good moments to assume that something even bigger was on the way, but …

– Is Michael Penix Jr. healthy? The quarterback who ripped open the state of Ohio and made the tremendous comeback against the state of Penn – HE WAS SHORT FROM THE FINISH LINE … I’m sorry, I’ll let go – suffered a knee injury at the end of the year, but Jack Tuttle was able to kick in and pull you a win over Wisconsin. Tuttle is the size and the ability to fit to be okay, but big expectations depend on whether or not Penix can be back in shape.

Lead recipient Whop Philyor is now a Viking from Minnesota, but the rest of the top spots start again with the dynamic Ty Fryfogle. He led the way with 721 yards and seven touchdowns – an average of 19 yards per catch, but he’s not alone. Miles Marshall is a deep threat, and Peyton Hendershot is a band coming to a close.

– The running game has been overwhelming in recent years, averaging less than four yards per carry and stalling far too often – the O only made over 170 rushing yards once.

Stevie Scott went to the NFL, but Tim Baldwin, a 6-0 freshman weighing 211 pounds, is back after finishing second on the team averaging over six meters per carry – he has the wheels to do more Bring flash light. 220 pounds sophomore Sampson James is back too.

There is experience on the offensive, but the production has to be better for the ground play. The pass blocking is fine, but can this group blow away? Overall, the line will be a plus if it’s a bit more physical.
