Preview of Chaney’s Offense
Scoring Offense: 17.0 (46th in the range)

Most important returnees: Jalen Berry, SO / OL; Rolando Bruno, JR / OL; Jason Hewlett, JR / ATH; Cam’eron Sly, SO / RB
Major losses: Anthony Caulton, WR; My’Twan Cottle, OL; Bryant Douglas, WR; Terrance Harris, TE; Delshawn Petrosky, QB; Raheen tray, WR
Name To Look For: Jason Hewlett, RB

The Cowboys lost a ton of their offensive production from last fall, including their QB Delshawn Petrosky (661 passing yards, 464 rushing yards), standout receiver Bryant Douglas (611 yards received, 7 TDs) and their all-league lineman My’Twan Cottle.

Coach Amill also says: “Our offensive coordinator Seth Antram – he became Boardman’s head coach – but we don’t plan to change much. I switched to the offensive side of the ball to become our coordinator, so we’ll see how things go after years as a defensive coordinator. “

However, Chaney is returning with Jason Hewlett, one of the region’s best young talent. Last year, a year ago, Hewlett finished the third highest rushing yards per carry average (8.8) among the underclassmen. He gained 570 yards on 65 carries. He also won 119 yards and completed 33 passes for 589 yards. He scored a total of 14 offensive touchdowns (6 passing, 6 rushing, 2 receiving). Amill points out, “Jason is competing with Andrew Gault and Matt Jones for the starting position of the quarterback (in camp).”

“The offensive line is currently in the works,” says Amill. “We lost a lot of seniors, but we have guys who work hard. Rolando Bruno, Jalen Berry, Jawan Freeman and Mark Stankorb are all returning with university experience and will be better in 2021. “

Preview of Chaney’s Defense
Scoring Defense: 19.1 (15th in the range)
Recurring starters: 5
Most important returnees: Jawan Freeman, JR / DL; Jason Hewlett, JR / DB; Christian Jones, SR / LB; JR Tellington, SR / DL; Clive Wilson, SR / DL
Loss of keys: Delshawn Petrosky, DB
Names To Look For: Tellington (DL) & Wilson (DL)

The combination of Seniors Clive Wilson and JR Tellington has made the Cowboys one of the wildest pass-rushing tandems in the entire region. Wilson finished his junior season with 10 quarterback sacks and 17 tackles for a loss while recovering 3 fumbles. Tellington brought down 18 ball carriers at a loss. He also led the cowboys with 13 sacks.

“We think it’s very important to have both Clive (Wilson) and JR (Tellington) back,” says Amill. “They are great leaders for us and with three younger boys – Javeon Young, Elijah Carter, and Saion Ivey – these guys will bring their leadership and experience with them.”

Jawan Freeman is back, as is senior linebacker Christian Jones. Jason Hewlett had two interceptions in his sophomore year and will be part of five starters who are back on defense.

“The strength this year will be our team pace and the fact that many young people have gained university experience in the last year,” says coach Amill. “Nothing can replace the repetitions you get when playing in college games. We have done a good job of giving our young people these reruns all year round. “

In her 3 wins, Chaney allowed an average of 3 points per competition. In their 6 defeats, Chaney allowed 26.7 points.
