Class of 2022 – The 50 Greatest Louisiana Excessive Faculty Soccer Gamers

LSU fans will be delighted when the state’s current No. 1 recruit keeps his oral commitment to the Tigers. St. Thomas More quarterback Walker Howard will be familiar to Tiger fans, as his father, Jamie Howard, had a very successful career in Baton Rouge in the 1990s.

According to the 247sports.com composite rankings, Walker is currently ranked as the No. 2 overall QB contender in the nation and 20th.

Last season, Howard led the Cougars to the Division II state championship for the second straight year and ranked 32nd on the High School Football America 100 national leaderboard, supported by NFL Play Football, the NFL’s initiative to keep players of all ages entertaining and to offer exciting experiences and skill levels.

Walker was named Gatorades Louisiana High School Football Player of the Year 2020-21. As a junior, Howard threw for 3,430 yards and 39 touchdowns.

How good was Walker’s father?

Jamie Howard is still on some of LSU’s perennial passport lists. He threw 6,158 with 36 touchdowns.

The top three contestants in the state in the ’22 class gave their words to head coach Ed Orgeron.

Joining Howard is Will Campbell, the No. 2 recruit in the state. Campbell, who has been a starter since his freshman season, chose LSU over Alabama, TCU, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.

Ponchatoula High Security Jacoby Mathews Security is number 3 in the state. The safety of the future tigers is an all-round athlete.

As the team’s quarterback in 2020, he passed for 858 yards with ten touchdowns and ran for 548 yards with nine scores. On the hardwood, he averaged 12.5 points per game and got 6.5 rebounds per competition.

And while there is a lot of talent in this year’s class, most of the “media air” in the room is occupied by a kid with the surname Manning.

Arch Manning, the grandson of Archie Manning, is the top recruit in the class of 2023. Isadore Newman’s quarterback is hoping to do something none of his uncles (Peyton and Eli) could – a state soccer championship for Isadore Newman to win.

Arch’s father is Cooper Manning, the eldest of the three Manning brothers. Cooper played wide receiver for Newman. He became the school’s first 1,000 yard receiver while Peyton tossed him the ball.

Arch, who has been a student since college, has completed nearly 66 percent of his passes (340-for-516) for 4,360 yards with 55 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. He has a quarterback rating of 116.4.
