Excessive College Soccer Group Preview: Liberty Tech Crusaders

JACKSON, Tennessee – After a year dictated by a pandemic, the Liberty Tech soccer program is slowly enjoying a normal preseason routine again. Tireless hard work was the theme this summer as head coach Scott Akin begins his sophomore year at the helm of the Crusaders.

From a wins and losses perspective, the 2020 season wasn’t exactly like Liberty, but it was an opportunity for younger athletes to gain vital college experience. Now that these individuals are a year older, the Crusaders are more than eager to step back on the grid for the 2021 season.

“When we get back after COVID, our numbers are still not where they should be,” Akin said. “We are still working on it every day. But the ones we put out are sold out and they work really hard. The return to normal is positive, and that’s what we’re focusing on right now. “

Despite reclassifications by the TSSAA, Liberty Tech will remain in Region 6 4A this season, competing with Lexington, Chester County, South Side, Hardin County and McNairy. The Crusaders are due to open the year on August 20th at home against USJ.
