Excessive Faculty Soccer Crew Preview: Milan Bulldogs

MILAN, Tennessee – The Class 3A runner-up from Milan is definitely bringing a healthy dose of energy to the upcoming high school football season.

After losing their opening game to Peabody last season, the Bulldogs made 2020 a year to remember, making their way through every opponent en route to an appearance in the Class 3A state title game.

The Milan program lost some key athletes by the time it closed but will return some of the best playmakers in the region including Anthony Brown and Hayden Sullivan. It’s no secret that the Bulldogs have a goal on their backs for 2021, which is why the Milan coaching staff take every opportunity to take their team to the next level.

“I want to see a little more physicality,” said head coach Carl Diffee. “I want our boys to compete and show me consistently over the next three weeks that they can be physical, something we challenged them with.”

“Right now we’re working on being a better team, building a leadership, and coming together to play as one instead of playing on different levels,” said defensive lineman Jaylen Walker.

This year, the Bulldogs will move up to Class 4A, joining Haywood, South Gibson, North Side, Crockett County, and Obion Counties in Region 7. Milan is currently slated to open the year with a jamboree event with Union City, followed by a highly anticipated competition with Peabody on August 19th.
