CFN Mountain West Preseason Offensive Player of the Year 2021

QB Carson Strong, Jr. Nevada

It’s going to be a big year for the Mountain West quarterbacks. Boise State’s Hank Bachmeier will be special if he can stay healthy, Fresno State’s Jake Heaner will put up massive numbers, San Jose State’s Nick Starkel is 14, but Nevada has a guy who’s rushed the NFL draft charts will conquer.

The 6-4, 215-pound Strong doesn’t run much, but he’s accurate – he hit 70% of his passes with just four picks last year – and he knows how to push the downfield passing game forward. The wolf pack is loaded and Strong is facing a huge year.

CFN Mountain West Preseason Defensive Player of the Year 2021

DE Cade Hall, Sr. San Jose State

Pick from at least ten Mountain West defensive players who have a reason to be here, and it’s hard to believe that Hall will be the best defensive end in a conference of great pass rushers. Even the guy on the other side of Hall – Viliami Fehoko – might deserve this spot.

But early in the season, the 6-3, 270-pound force should be one of the nation’s top pass-rushers again after losing ten sacks and 12 tackles in just seven games. With a charged defense around him, Hall should dominate.
