Fantasy Baseball Picks: High DraftKings MLB DFS Lineup Technique for Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Showdown on April 29th

The bad news is that two terrible teams are on the showdown schedule. The good news is that bad teams have bad pitchers, and this leads to explosive offensive shootouts. While both offenses leave much to the imagination, there is enough talent in these lineups to enable an exciting Thursday night showdown.

Captain’s picks

Ryan McMahon (15,300 USD CP) – Let’s just do it. He’s the best batsman on the slate and he faces the worst pitcher on the slate. McMahon has a WOBA of 0.337, an ISO of 0.277, and a contact rate of 41% on 65 bats against right-handed this season. This isn’t just any right-handed man either; Luke Weaver ($ 16,200 CP; $ 10,800) fights left-handed. This season, Weaver allows left-handers three HR / 9, .333 ISO and a flyball rate of 44%. Last season his numbers were just as ugly.

Carson Kelly (USD 14,400 CP) – Antonio Senzatela (USD 15,600 CP; USD 10,400) is in an interesting place because he’s a reverse splits pitcher – the right handed pitcher is decent against left handed batters but fights right handed batters. He might cut back on a Diamondbacks lineup of full left-handers, but he will fight right-handers (versus RHB in 2021: .420 WOBA, .271 ISO, 42% hard contact rate, 16% K rate, and 2.5 HR / 9). Carson Kelly has a .427 WOBA, .306 ISO and a 170 WRC + pitching against right-handers this season.

Value plays

Raimel Tapia ($ 7,000) – It’s a cheap left-hander against Weaver, and it sure is better than rusting old man Charlie Blackmon. Tapia have scored a goal in 17 of their 23 games this season. Against right-handers, it has a WOBA of 0.355, an ISO value of 172, a WRC of 111 and a low K-rate of 14%. Tapia has been an above-average fastball hitter and an exceptional change-up hitter this season, and those two pitches make up 95% of Weaver’s repertoire.

Yonathan Daza ($ 5,000) – There is always the extreme savings option. The left-handed bats for the Rockies are the first option, but for the savings, Daza is in the game. All of the 2021 projection models have Daza as the player who can hit average but no pop, and he’s doing exactly what they predicted (.311 average and .111 ISO). At its price, some hits, a run, and possibly an RBI will work. If he can’t reach Weaver, he’ll have to face a bullpen with 4.74 xFIP.

Charlie Blackmon ($ 9,900 CP; $ 6,600) – As the children say, it is dust. In the middle of last season, Blackmon collapsed like a garden chair. He hit .163 in spring training and started this season as cold as possible (.269 WOBA and .123 ISO). What’s wrong with you? He sold. Blackmon is not chasing pitches out of the Zone and its swinging strike rate has not changed. Where Blackmon ages, everyone ages. His hard contact rate is at a career low, he pulls everything and he rates as the average run producer against fastballs. Father time is unbeaten. Strength and reflexes don’t last forever.

The result

Does anyone really care who wins? The real question is how many runs are there on the board? Weaver has allowed eight deserved runs in his last nine innings, and that streak won’t end on Wednesday. The runs keep getting on and Senzatela does a decent job with the left handed bats of the Diamondbacks. The Rockies are squeaking, but the scoreboard is in double digits.

Bottom line: Rockies 7, Diamondbacks 5
