HIGH-SCHOOL-FOOTBALL: Wink qualifies for the state 7-on-7 match

SONORA The Wink Wildcats earned a qualifying spot for the Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament after defeating hosts Sonora 32-26 in the Sonora State Qualifying Tournament. The Wildcats defeated Miles 27-22 in the championship game. Miles defeated Brady 32-27 to secure the other qualifying spot.

This marks the second time in three years that the Wildcats have qualified for the state after finishing in the Division III bracket in 2019.

Alpine is the other Division III qualifier after winning at Wink last weekend, while Midland Lee and Midland Christian qualified for State Division I.

The state tournament is scheduled to take place June 24-26 at Veterans Park in College Station.
