JAMBOREE: Lee and Trinity Christian in Sandalwood

Thursday 6 p.m.

Three of the largest programs in Jacksonville come together. These include a reigning state champion (Trinity, Florida High School Athletic Association’s Class 3A winner last December), the top ranked overall recruit in the region (Lee defenseman Jaheim Singletary), and a regional class 8A semi-finalist in Sandalwood. Holy QB Chris Calhoun, who signed up for UConn, impressed last spring, as did linemen Kyle Duncan and Deante McCray. Lee’s floor game, in which Dayon Rawls and Alvin Gibson run behind future Division I lineman Derrell Johnson, is very promising, and Trinity is loaded with athletes all over the field.

Fleming Island at Mandarin

Thursday 6 p.m.

The Golden Eagles bring back one of the region’s premier prospects in the Class of 2023 in Sam Singleton, which was stellar last year (921 yards, 9.1 yards per carry) and, newly offered by the LSU, is paying for an even bigger stake the rush for a Fleming Island team that is a consistent playoff contender. The recipients Darion Domineck and Caleb Jones also impress in the spring. Mandarin’s defense is always strong and the 2021 roster shouldn’t be an exception. Safety Tony Carter and linebacker Jalen Deadwyler are the leading mustangs for the new season.

Fletcher at Raines

Thursday 6 p.m.

A matchup for all gateway conferences, including several notable recruits. The main focus will be on defense, where Fletcher Edge Rusher Aaron Hester is a dynamic and disruptive force committed to the state of Florida. Also look out for the Senators Secondary, where Tariq Riley and Merritt Reynolds carry on the Fletcher DB tradition. On the flip side, Raines quarterback Carleton Butler is showing signs of taking command as a two-way threat, and the offensive weapon Kareem Burke brings track star speed as a champion in the Vikings 4 x 400 meter relay, kicking Andrew Stephens as a downfield target.

University Christian recipient Ja'won Gray, 5, receives a touchdown pass in the third quarter of the Class 2A soccer game against Champagnat Catholic.

Parker at Christian University

Thursday 7pm

The runner-up in Class 2A, University Christian from December, brings several important lower-school students to the grid for spring, including QB Desirrio Riles and athletes Orel Gray and Ja’Won Gray. You’re also hard in the trenches, driven by Gabe McLamb and Khol Roswan. On the flip side, there’s a Parker team that has made steady strides over the past two seasons and has a rising prospect of a sporty quarterback in Roman Doles who has already attracted huge recruiting interest for the 2023 class.

Jackson at Ribault

Friday 6 p.m.

It’s not every day that nearby rivals – less than five miles separate the Northside Schools – face each other in a spring game. The Trojans run to the semi-finals of Region 1-5A, knocking off Choctawhatchee and Tallahassee Godby. The Trojans’ line impressed early on, including Shaun Davis, DeShun Jones and Jordan Matthews on offense and Carmello Cooper and Chiyone Simmons on defensive. In his first season under Jackson Foy, Jackson made great strides last year and is set to continue the rise. You have a hot linebacker recruit for 2023 at Grayson Howard and the key elements of an athletic high school with Caleb Francis, Brian Hooks and Matt Merritt.
