The Tigers finished last season with the best record in the county, losing only one game during the regular season and falling one game behind the state championship for the second straight year.

■ 1st cocoa tiger: The Tigers finished last season with the best record in the county, losing only one game during the regular season and falling one game behind the state championship for the second straight year. Expect big players like Cedric Hawkins, OJ Ross and Jmariyae Robinson to have a big season, but the takeover of former Holy Trinity quarterback Davin Wydner makes this football powerhouse a much bigger problem on Friday night.

The Raiders kick off the season with some of the county’s top talent like Rian Black and Virgil Marshall, to name a few.

■ 2nd Rockledge Raider: Rockledge lost a few key players from last season, including quarterback Elias Allen and star athlete Raheim Sanders, but cultural coach Wayne Younger, whom he incorporated into his football program, will keep them in the mix for the top spot. The Raiders kick off the season with some of the county’s top talent like Rian Black and Virgil Marshall, to name a few.

Year after year, Viera Hawks bring exceptional talent under head coach Dereck Smith.

■ 3rd Viera Falcons: Year after year, Viera Hawks bring exceptional talent under head coach Dereck Smith. Well this year they arguably have the best talent in Brevard County in the upcoming season in defensive star Jamari Lyons. Senior quarterback CJ Simms and running back Judah Knight looked like a top doubles combination in the spring game. If this moves into the regular season and beyond, we could watch a special Viera Hawks season.

It looks like the players bought their way into Coach Owen’s vision pretty quickly as they dominated Jamboree in their spring game.

■ 4. Pirates of Palm Bay: This ranking will surprise people, but not those who watched Palm Bay football last season. For all the talents on the roster, the pirates really didn’t have a true identity. Which led to a change of coach and now Palm Bay is starting the season under the new head coach Jake Owens. It looks like the players bought their way into Coach Owen’s vision pretty quickly as they dominated Jamboree in their spring game.

The Commodores are ending their best season in programming history after making it into the postseason and securing their first ever playoff win.

■ 5. Eau Gallie Commodores: The Commodores are ending their best season in programming history after making it into the postseason and securing their first ever playoff win. Coaching has a lot to do with a team’s success, and Coach Sands certainly flipped the Eau Gallie program, but it has seen a slight decline simply because an abundance of elite talent has broken into the next season from the previous season. Eau Gallie still has talent, but losing numerous Impact players is something you can’t ignore.

Coach Broomfield had a phenomenal season last year after recording Bayside’s longest winning streak since 2014 and securing his first playoff win since 2010.

■ 6. Bayside bears: Coach Broomfield had a phenomenal season last year after recording Bayside’s longest winning streak since 2014 and securing his first playoff win since 2010. I expect the Bears will continue to improve on their previous 4-6 season with all the versatility at either end of the game. The Bears will go as far as their defense needs as they scored many points on the last year opposing team have given up.

After the Bulldogs ended the 2020 season with a disappointing 3-6 season, Melbourne made a change by appointing David Kintigh as their new head coach

■ 7. Melbourne Bulldogs: After the Bulldogs ended the 2020 season with a disappointing 3-6 season, Melbourne made a change by appointing David Kintigh as their new head coach. The talent is there, it just comes down to how the defensive side of the ball holds up and how quickly Kintigh can get his players to buy into the system.

Holy Trinity finished her season over .500 under head coach Nate Hooks last year.

■ 8th tiger of the Holy Trinity: Holy Trinity finished her season over .500 under head coach Nate Hooks last year. The Tigers have already faced challenges regarding their football program as they barely had 20 players in their entire squad last season. To add to the lack of players, her former 3-star professional quarterback Davin Wydner joined Cocoa to complete his high school career. The coming season could be a challenge with the amount of young talent and new faces.

That ranking feels pretty low after the impressive season Coach Worden and the War Eagles had last year.

■ 9th astronaut war eagle: That ranking feels pretty low after the impressive season Coach Worden and the War Eagles had last year. The Space Coast Player of the Year 2020, Abreon Torres, has graduated. Torres played an important role in their success last season and if you lose such a player it could be difficult to regain your identity after a spectacular season of rush like 2020. I expect quarterback Antonio Caito to have a good season and the War Eagles to stay competitive.

Heritage ended the season with an uneventful regular season of 1-7 in 2020. Much of that had to do with arguably having the youngest roster on the Space Coast.

■ 10th legacy panthers: Heritage ended the season with an uneventful regular season of 1-7 in 2020. Much of that had to do with arguably having the youngest roster on the Space Coast. Panthers only get better with experience and chemistry with this young sophomore team led by quarterback Joseph Tenta. The Space Coast is a ton of talent when you compare them to Heritage, so I expect them to make a significant leap after another season under this young core’s belt.
