Mercer Mustangs Excessive Faculty Soccer Preview 2021
MERCER, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – Mercer is aiming for its first winning season since 2013 (9-3). Coach Jeff Lockard is now in his third season as the Mustangs head coach. After two years of steady improvement, Mercer seems to be on the right track for a breakout season with lots of starters returning.
“We look forward to the coming year. The excitement is quite high as only three seniors from last year’s team have been lost and there are a lot of younger players playing, ”said Coach Lockard. “We should have good competition in many places that goes to camp.”
The Mustangs begin on Saturday, August 28th, with a trip to Hermitage to take on Kennedy Catholic. Mercer’s after their fifth win on the first day in a row.

“We want to build on last year by better understanding the offensive,” said Coach Lockard. “We have to get better in the red. We have seven starters coming back and a few others who got game time, so that should help us in those areas. The offensive line game should be a key for us this year with four starters behind us, as they have worked hard over the winter. “
