No. 82 recruits Jaydon Blue to skip the senior highschool soccer season and put together for dedication to Texas Longhorns

ESPN 300 Runs Back Jaydon Blue, one of the top running backs in the 2022 class, said he will skip his senior high school football season in 2021 to prepare for college.

Blue of Houston Klein Cain High School is the No. 82 recruit on ESPN 300. The 5-foot-10, 195-pounder has been hired in Texas since February, and he made the decision with his family to move on to his final high school -Sign up season as he gets ready to join the Longhorns.

The decision, Blue said in a statement posted on Twitter Thursday, took into account the wear and tear on the return position.

“This was a very difficult decision for my family and me,” Blue said on his Twitter post. “Soccer is a brutal sport and the wear and tear associated with the RB position is undeniable. I plan to take this time to focus on my academics while improving my off-field training / rehab program .

“This is a strategic and deliberate effort to ensure that I am ready to compete at the elite level of the college rankings during the 2022 season. … This is a gradual step in the hope of one day my NFL dreams to meet. “

Blue ran 2,155 yards and 30 touchdowns at Klein Cain last season, averaging 9.5 yards per carry. With scholarship offers in hand and a commitment already made, Blue felt he could take this time to exercise and rehabilitate his body before college.

His decision did not affect his commitment to Texas, and the Longhorns staff knew he would make the announcement.

Blue is the first known candidate in the 2022 class to announce that he will be suspending his season. Several prospects in the 2021 class chose not to play – mostly due to COVID-19 restrictions pushing their season to spring.

Ohio State running back signee TreVeyon Henderson was one of those prospects who decided not to move to another high school when his fall season was pushed back. Henderson chose to train and prepare for college instead of playing a spring season.

Blue’s decision is more voluntary, but his choice could affect others who see a high profile recruit did so.
