Philadelphia highschool soccer participant dies warming up for scrimmage – NBC10 Philadelphia

A Philadelphia High School football player died after collapsing on the field while warming up for a scrimmage Tuesday night.

The 16-year-old West Catholic Preparatory High School student Ivan Hicks was set to be involved in a 7v7 battle against Coatesville High School, the Chester County forensic office said. He died warming up before the game, a Coatesville High School spokeswoman said.

The crime scene parents performed CPR before he was admitted to Brandywine Hospital, the spokeswoman said.

He was pronounced dead at 6:43 p.m. Forensic medicine said an autopsy was scheduled for Friday to determine the cause of death.
