Robert Tonyan Fantasy Soccer Predictions in early 2021

Robert Tonyan was a breakout star on the Green Bay Packers offense last season.

Tight end is often a difficult position to fill fantasy football unless you are ready to start working with a superstar like Travis Kelce, George Kittle or Darren Waller early on.

With fantasy football blueprints for many leagues, where should you consider moving Tonyan this year?

How Tonyan finished in 2020

Few fantasy managers would have called up Tonyan last year, save maybe a few Packers fans who saw him standing in line for the starting job. But unbelievable, he finished last season as TE3 in half of the PPR rating, according to Fantasy Pros.

Though he didn’t release the superstar numbers we saw from Kelce and Waller – they were in a league of their own – Tonyan delivered consistent numbers for fantasy managers throughout the season. An important part of that was his 11 touchdown receptions.

Tonyan made a solid bottom with five or more catches in six different games. In an important section of the fantasy season from weeks 11-15, he got a touchdown in every game, despite only having a reception for 17 yards in the fantasy championship.

What to expect in 2021

Tonyan has established his role as a reliable midfield target and that won’t change anytime soon. Tonyan should again be the number one packer to get the tight end and one of Aaron Rodgers’ most trusted targets.

If anything, his numbers could improve overall as he connects with Rodgers and enters his third year on Matt LaFleur’s system.

Perhaps the arrival of Amari Rodgers will take some goals away, but Tonyan will always be a solid option. He often hits the red zone, plays in an offense with high scores and rarely makes mistakes, which means that the ball always runs in his direction.

If you’re missing out on the top tight ends in fantasy, Tonyan can be a solid choice.

Fantasy design

Despite a great 2020 season, Tonyan is slipping under the radar. According to the Fantasy Football Calculator, he’s currently the 16th tight end to come off the board and drop back to round 12. Tight ends like Dallas Goedert, Evan Engram, and Irv Smith Jr. are all picked earlier than Tonyan.

If you still need a tight finish late in the draft, Tonyan can add great value to your roster.
