Southington Chalker Wildcats Excessive Faculty Soccer Preview 2021

SOUTHINGTON, Ohio (WKBN) – Chalker didn’t have to look far for their new head coach. Former Wildcat and assistant Justin Kren was appointed to the position in late January.

Last fall, Chalker played in the fewest games (5) of any area team (affiliated with Champion). The Wildcats lost each of their five games a year ago. It wasn’t until 2018 that the ‘Cats finished with a 6-4 win record.

Says Kren, “We have thirteen players returning on either side of the ball. Offensively and defensively, my aim is to develop our identity. “

The season kicks off in North Jackson on Friday August 20th when Chalker visits Jackson-Milton.

Record 2020: 0-5 (0-5, 6th place in NAC)

The keys to the attack will again be in the hands of Chayse Harris. Harris threw 131 yards last season. He will have two returning running backs – Trey Redding and Blake Troyer – and a pair of receivers – Hector Pagan and James Stull – back in the herd.

Coach Kren says: “We are going offensive with our running game. We will split the time between several candidates. It depends on how our line plays, we will look a lot like last year. Previous standouts in the off-season are Caleb Slusher and Ryan Heardman. “

Of their 5 games a year ago, Chalker only scored 26 points and was excluded three times.

Preview of Chalker’s Defense
Judicial defense: 41.0 (60th in range)
Most important returnees: Hector Pagan, SR / DB; Trey Redding, SR / DB; Caleb Slusher, SR / DL; Blake Troyer, JR / DB
Loss of keys: Jack Cabot, DB; TJ Duffey, DL

Each of their five opponents scored 34 or more points against Chalker a year ago.

“We have to be flexible on the defensive when children play several positions,” says Kren. “Our strength, in my opinion, will be our defense front. We have a few returning starters, but I’m impressed with some of the freshmen arriving. “
