With spring camp completed nationwide, college football is a big step closer to returning for the 2021 season and 247Sports has fans. The Late Kick with Josh Godfather was pre-game in May and provided an early glimpse into some teams that might come as a surprise later that year.

“Everyone wants to be smart every day of the week, but especially around the water cooler, this time of year, you want to be the guy who told you, ‘This team is coming,’ in April or May,” Godfather said on episode 136. “When when they arrived in November, you can look back, cross your arms, sit in the corner and say, “I told you,” four of the most beautiful words when combined correctly in the English language.

“So choose yours. I’ll choose mine. The definition here is, ‘Define the level of expectation the public has – who is going to surpass it in terms of the perception of the college football public this year?'”

From some of the recent college football playoff competitors who saw mixed results in 2020 to an overlooked program on the rise, this handful could turn heads more than they did in the middle of this fall.
