Valdosta, Pulaski Academy amongst a number of present vacancies as head coach for highschool soccer – highschool sports activities information, scores, movies, leaderboards

Several major high school soccer head coach jobs are open, including Pulaski Academy in Arkansas and Valdosta, Georgia.

Here are the top six spots currently open in alphabetical order.

Hialeah-Miami Lakes (Florida)

Former Hialeah-Miami Lakes head coach Edward Williams was arrested last week and immediately dismissed after he was accused of having a romantic relationship with a 17-year-old girl. Miami Lakes went 4-0 last season and have had problems in recent years, but the school is in one of the most talented areas in the country. The right coach could have immediate success.

IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida)

Last year, Bobby Acosta was hired by IMG, leading the Ascenders to an 8-0 record and No. 1 national rankings. During the off-season, Acosta left the company to become the head coach at Del Valle High School in Texas. IMG has not yet discontinued its replacement.

Manatee (Bradenton, Florida)

After announcing in early April that coach Yusuf Shakir will not be retained, Manatee announced that former University of Florida player Jacquez Green would be the interim coach while the school conducts a national search for a new head coach. Manatee went 8-2 a year ago and are traditionally one of the better teams in Florida.

Pine-Richland (Gibsonia, Pennsylvania)

After an eight-year run that included four WPIAL championships and two state titles, Pine-Richland fired popular head coach Eric Kasperowicz in April. Following the rebound from players and the school community, Pine-Richland Superintendent Brian Miller said the school will continue to hire a new coach. Last season Pine-Richland went 11-0.

Kevin Kelley built one of the best high school programs in the country at Pulaski Academy. He took the job as head coach at Presbyterian (SC) College earlier this month after winning nine state titles with Pulaski. The Bruins went 13-0 last season. The Pulaski Academy will most likely be hired from within, but that job immediately became one of the largest in the country when Kelley announced his resignation.

Valdosta (Georgia)

Is this job really open? Controversial head coach Rush Propst was fired on April 27 after the Georgia High School Association found he illegally recruited players last season. However, the Valdosta City Schools board of directors planned to reconsider the layoff in a session on Monday, under the Atlanta Journal constitution. The meeting was abruptly canceled without explanation.

When Propst is no longer the coach, this will be one of the biggest openings in the country. Valdosta is a public school power in Georgia. Former University of Tennessee assistant coach Shelton Felton has been named interim head coach.
