Xenith Prep Kickoff Basic returns to Wayne State and options high highschool soccer groups

After a year-long hiatus, the Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic will return to the Wayne State University campus to kick off the 2021 high school football season.

After the event was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the PKC will welcome 12 teams that will play six games over three days. According to a notice from the Detroit Sports Commission, the schedule is as follows:

Thursday, August 26th

4 p.m .: Canton vs. Dearborn Fordson

7:00 p.m. Clinton Township Chippewa Valley vs. Detroit Catholic Central

Friday, August 27th

4 p.m .: Birmingham Groves vs. Dexter

7 p.m .: Warren De La Salle vs. Chicago St. Patrick

Saturday, August 28th

1 p.m .: Eastpointe vs. River Rouge

4 p.m .: Detroit Cass Tech vs. Southfield A&T

“The Detroit Sports Commission is proud to reopen Michigan high school football season with an exciting lineup of games in a great setting in the heart of midtown Detroit,” said Dave Beachnau, senior vice president of the Detroit Sports Commission , in a publication. “The 2021 event will feature an enormous collection of schools and will also highlight the colorful splendor of bands and cheerleaders that fans can experience at this one-of-a-kind event.”

Tickets will be available online at detroitsports.org at a later date, with a portion of the proceeds going to each school. One ticket allows entry to all games on that day.
